Seascapes by Kivistö-Leppisaari

Artistic collaboration with architect Juha Kivistö.

Seascapes presents modern interpretations of the sea and its diversity, both above and below the surface. Wall hangings and knits made with different techniques paint seascapes with textures, materials and patterns. They invite the viewer to think about the diversity of the sea, and the role of human in its conservation.

Several of the wall hangings and knits are dyed with natural dyes, in collaboration with Aalto University's BioColour research project on bio-based dyes. The natural blue comes from woad-plant, cultivated in Finland by Natural Indigo Finland.

The woven jacquard are manufactured in collaboration with EE Exclusives and knitwear in collaboration with Knitwear Lab.

On display in solo exhibition at K.H.Renlund museum in Kokkola, Finland 10.12.2020-31.1.2021.
